About GolfCalc
Last updated: 2026-06-25
GolfCalc is a free collection of golf calculators for handicap, scorecard, and yards to meters distance conversion.
All calculations run in your browser, and we provide them transparently based on the World Handicap System (WHS) formulas and standard unit constants.
What is GolfCalc
GolfCalc is a free set of tools that helps weekend golfers and beginners handle common golf calculations quickly and accurately. It computes handicap differential and index, totals an 18-hole score, and converts distance between yards and meters, presenting the math alongside each result so anyone can follow it.
Editorial principles (E-E-A-T)
- Experience — We mirror the structure of real scorecards and round records, breaking results down by round and by hole.
- Expertise — We calculate using standard formulas and constants: the handicap differential formula ((score − course rating) × 113 ÷ slope), the WHS averaging rules, and 1 yard = 0.9144 meters.
- Authoritativeness — We cite standards and sources from authoritative bodies such as the USGA and The R&A.
- Trustworthiness — We never hide the math; we publish each formula and clearly label estimates and reference figures. Your inputs are never collected or stored.
Data and formula sources
The formulas and constants used in each calculator are based on the following standards. Handicap rules can change, and we update to the latest standards when they do.
- USGA — Handicap differential, course rating, and slope rating standards
- The R&A — Joint governing body for the Rules of Golf and handicapping
- World Handicap System (WHS) — Handicap index calculation and averaging rules
- International System of Units (SI) — 1 yard = 0.9144 meters (international yard, defined 1959)
A note on accuracy
Every GolfCalc result is a reference estimate based on your inputs and published formulas. Handicap index estimates do not apply some official adjustments such as PCC (Playing Conditions Calculation), and average club distances are fun reference figures that vary greatly by individual. For an official handicap and exact course ratings, defer to the standards of authorized clubs and governing bodies.
